Textures

Most of the textures I'll be using in my level are metal and concrete, basically industrial materials that are common for hard edged objects.  Here are a few that I found that are similar to what I am going to use.







Refined Level

I recently reworked parts of my level. The layout has changed a little bit but not enough to majorly delay anything. I felt that the old layout needed to be tweaked and now I'm a lot happier with the way it is. Now I'm just going to continued to model and texture all my assets and hopefully be done in the next week with most of that.

Final Pitch

For my final pitch, I have decided to stick with my original idea and so a completely sci-fi multiplayer level. I feel that this will be more beneficial for my portfolio at this point. So far I have an overhead layout and some concept sketches, and more to come. The bottom 4 images are from Killzone 2 and Mass Effect and are similar to the style that I would like to achieve in my level.







Final pitch preparation

After doing some research, I wasn't not able to find much good reference for the Dutch architecture. I did do some sci-fi environment concepts though, and I'm still leaning more towards doing that rather than combining the two which would probably add more time to development. Here are some reference images I have gathered so far.







More ideas

After presenting my three pitches, it seemed that both the sci-fi level and the modern day level were more popular. It was suggested that I combine the two and create an environment that is set in modern day, but has futuristic elements such as a futuristic city off in the distance. I really like that idea so I will definitely look into it. It kind of reminds me of Half-Life, which was a successful combination of real world and futuristic architecture and props.

Pitch Ideas

The three ideas that I have come up with for the project pitches are a sci-fi multiplayer level, a modern day style multiplayer level, and a set of vehicle designs. All the info is written up in my PowerPoint so I won't go into details. I am leaning towards the sci-fi level but we'll see how the other pitches go after the presentation. 

3 pitches

PowerPoint: I have started putting together my PowerPoint presentation for the three pitches. I have had a little bit of trouble digging up good images of past work, but over all I think it showcases my skill sets pretty well. So far I have a few rough level plans, but nothing completely solid yet.
